Rhandirmwyn - About the Area

The winding River Towy is a big feature of this holiday home site. The Towy is the longest river flowing entirely within Wales and is a haven for salmon and trout fishing. The mouth of the Towy is overlooked by the Norman Llansteffan Castle.

The Royal Oak Inn is within easy walking distance of the site, and offers a great place to mingle with your neighbours and locals. They also serve great pub grub and local ales.

Close to the site is the Gwenffrwd-Dinas Nature Reserve. A treat for birdwatchers, you can spot rare breeds such as red kites and grey wagtails in amongst the alder and oak woodland. Worth a visit for the scenery as well as the wildlife.

The famous Brecon Beacons are just 8 miles from your holiday home site, and offer spectacular walks, climbs and events. Whether you would enjoy discovering concealed waterfalls or visiting arts and crafts displays, you will have an endless choice of activities.

The area was once famous for lead mining, with the Nantymwyn Lead Mine operating from 1304 until 1932. Nowadays, the large rocky outcrop called Pen Cerrigmwyn acts as a reminder about times past in Rhandirmwyn.
