Tarland - About the area
The Aberdeen Arms is the local pub/restaurant, serving great food and providing entertainment every last Friday of the month, when the Cromar Folk Club get together to provide songs and music.
The nearby Tarland Golf Club offers golfers a nine-hole parkland course in a well-maintained, pretty setting. Just watch out for the deer that sometimes cross the green!
A number of walking trails start from the village centre, with the four main walks being Alastrean, Corrachree, Drummy and Pittenderich. Details of these walks can be found here.
The area shares views with Royalty, with Balmoral Castle only 20 miles from the site. The castle is well worth a visit, whatever the season – you can even take a guided tour of the grounds.
Aberdeen is just over 35 miles away, and brings with it a mixture of culture, architecture and shopping. www.aberdeen-grampian.com is a great site for planning your time in this popular city.
In August, Aboyne welcomes the annual Highland Games - with both traditional and entertaining games, meaning fun and laughter for all attending. The games have been running for over 140 years, and attract thousands of visitors.
